Description
In December 2004, RESEAU FINANCEMENT ALTERNATIF initiated a program entitled « Developing tools shared by public authorities and financial institutions to promote fundamental rights in the European Union » financed by the European Commission - Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Department.
RESEAU FINANCEMENT ALTERNATIF has analysed 17 partnerships between public authorities, financial institutions and social economy organisations, where applicable, for the promotion of fundamental rights.
All 17 experiments had been conducted in 11 European Union member states or applying countries - Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Northern Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, United Kingdom, Slovakia and Sweden.
The purpose of the 2004/2005 scheme was to analyse such basic specificities of said partnerships as may be transposed to other regions in the European Union so as to increase the success rate of future initiatives.
Achievements
The programme 2004-2005 provided the opportunity to complete the following actions:
- Identifying and benchmarking experiments and good practices conducted on a partnership basis by public authorities, financial institutions and third sector organisations, where applicable;
- Studying problems of content, application, monitoring and verification of these experiments and good practices;
- Explaining and discussing these experiments and good practices;
- Checking if and to what extent they may be reproduced in other European Union regions;
- Pooling and coordinating these experiments and good practices so as to promote their convergence and transparency.

To reach the goals of the project, Réseau Financement Alternatif joint forces with nine project partners (all members of the European union) already involved in social economy or ethical and solidarity-based finance. Their respective mission deals with the promotion of fundamental rights and/or corporate social responsability.
